With a new set of skills and a refined outlook on Gotham, Gotham Knights will have players being the costumed vigilante of their dreams. As Gotham Knights builds upon a foundation of new and exciting features, it may surprise gamers to find out that there are some awesome things they did not know they could do in the first place.
8 Elemental Damage Effects
There’s a lack of simplicity to Gotham Knights’ combat, which makes the game more engaging and thought-provoking. Each engagement into combat could be the Knight’s last, especially if the hero the player has chosen is not aware of elemental damage. Some characters can cause elemental effects on the player, and vice versa.

Taking note of elemental effects is important, and it’s pretty great when players can combine their fists and weapons with the elements, causing greater damage and versatility in combat. Players can freeze or set fire to enemies, with more elemental experimentation at their end.
7 Smoke Bomb!
Combat can certainly be overwhelming. After all, at most, Gotham Knights is about an army of two against the entirety of Gotham’s worst criminals. What the game doesn’t make clear, though, is the awesome ability to use smoke bombs. If players are overwhelmed, or just need to take a breather, then they can hold the grapple button/key to deploy a smoke bomb, and re-enter stealth.
This feature is vastly useful when stealth goes wrong, as it allows the player to become one with the shadows again. Criminals beneath them will frantically search the area, but find that the hero is nowhere to be seen after automatically zipping to a vantage point.
6 Switch Characters
When players begin their journey into Gotham Knights, they might fear that if they choose a character at the start, they will not be able to experience plenty of different ways to play as other characters. Considering the game gives the choice between different styles of combat and dialogue with Red Hood, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Robin, the game allows players to pick and choose whenever they enter the Belfry.
From the game’s HUB, the Belfry allows players to choose their character, and switch them out for each night on patrol. It makes it more fun knowing that players do not have to start a new game just change characters. After all, the Bat Family is fascinating, and players shouldn’t be restricted to just one or two members.
5 Photo Mode
When players hold the left button, they will immediately enter photo mode. Photo mode is an awesome feature in games, as it allows players to express their creativity, and take some stellar photography, complete with framing, lighting, and filters. Photo mode assists in creativity, and is a great feature for modern games.
Thankfully for fans, Gotham Knights feature a great and detailed photo mode, meaning that they can create some iconic imagery for Gotham Knights, and build a photo album of memories of their time against Gotham City’s villains, and with fellow heroes.
4 Fight Different Enemy Types
Not every criminal in Gotham is a superstitious and cowardly lot. Some are rather strong and have different abilities from an ordinary crook that just throws punches or tries to shoot the player with guns. Some have big shields, and some have the power to heal others. Gotham Knights players need to be aware of this.
It’s a fun feature to have different enemy types, as it allows more creativity in battle. Players will know soon enough whom to target first, and what the biggest threat on the battlefield is. These different enemy types help spice the game up and add more excitement to the combat.
3 Stealth Distractions
Stealth is an important feature for Batman and his allies. After all, Gotham City’s costumed vigilantes are the shadows. Fear is an important weapon to the Bat Family, and criminals being attacked from the dark, and in stealth, is a great way to keep them on edge. Stealth plays a great role in Gotham Knights, but sometimes enemies just don’t want to budge away from their buddies.

To make stealth easier, players can use batarangs and other objects to distract enemies. This can cause them to move from their position, and investigate the noise they heard. From here, they are vulnerable for players to take down and make enemies’ numbers dwindle to just one.
2 Meet Lucius Fox
At a certain part of the story, players will find Lucius Fox. Not only is Lucius a great mind and ally to Batman and the Bat Family, but he has a lot of interesting encounters in the game. By meeting Lucius Fox whenever players complete an activity, they can get some great rewards, blueprints, and unlock fast travel.
Lucius Fox is the key to unlocking fast travel, which means players should get to him as quickly as possible. He is also the way that players can get a bunch of new pieces of gear, which makes him vital for being the best hero that Gotham Knights can offer.
1 Receive Emails From DC Superheroes
Nightwing and company are not alone in Gotham Knights. Not only do they have the support of the civilians and Alfred Pennyworth, but they also have the support of famous DC heroes. Players can check their emails and text messages to find conversations with heroes like Superman, one of Bruce’s oldest friends.
Not only does this fun mechanic add more messages as the game progresses, but it also confirms the existence of iconic DC characters in the Gotham Knights universe. It’s a great outlook on how characters respond to Batman’s death and the personalities of iconic characters through text messages.
Gotham Knights is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
